Jarman Suffers Unusual Fall on Still Rings: "I Don't Know What Happened"

Fenton Manner played host to the 2026 Friendly between Great Britain, France, Switzerland, Germany, and Italy. The British won the meet ahead of Italy and France with Switzerland and Germany rounding out the remaining competitors. Oakley Banks took the all-around title with a personal best of 80.25 ahead of Olympic Medalist, Jake Jarman.

World Team Implications

Jarman has not competed all-around since March, and earlier this year, Jarman turned down his assignment to compete at the European Championships to continue to work on upgrades. He said:

After a lot of thought, I've decided to step back from selection this summer, and now my preparation is fully focused toward the World Championships later this year, continuing the momentum I've built in some of the best work I've been doing with a focus of being able to showcase them at the worlds later this year.

Expectations for this meet were for Jarman to show preparedness for the World Championships. Jarman showed a world-class floor routine and a pommel horse routine that would be immensely valuable to the British Team. However, this competitions highlighted stamina struggles on still rings and a downgraded vault that may put a spot on the World Championships team in question. When asked what happened on still rings Jarman answered, "I don't know what happened."

Per the British selection document, the British World Team selection panel will convene on Sunday, September 13th and announce the chose team internally on September 14th. Athletes will have 48 hours to appeal the team selection.
