Oka Shinnosuke Wins Back-to-Back NHK Trophy All-Around Titles

May 18, 2025
Following day one of the 2025 NHK Trophy, Oka Shinnosuke was in first place in the all -around with a point and a half lead over Hashimoto Daiki who was not performing up to his usual standards.

The Olympic Channel reported that Hashimoto Daiki had been suffering from a mysterious illness for ten days and was on the mental and physical brink. Hashimoto’s coach wanted him to rest but Hashimoto was determined to make the team despite his illness to the point that Hashimoto scheduled an appointment at the hospital following Sunday’s finals.
Hashimoto outperformed Oka on day two of competition but it wasn’t enough to overcome the day 1 deficit and Oka came away victorious. Both Hashimoto and Oka have secured automatic spots onto the 2025 Japanese World Championships team. The other team members will be named at a later date.
The NHK Trophy also served as the selection event for the 2025 FISU World University Games. The Japanese Committee selected:
Oka Shinnosuke
Hashimoto Daiki
