Following qualifications at the 2025 Chinese Gymnastics Championships, Jiangsu trailed Hunan by over six points; however, in team finals, Jiangsu was unbeatable. Hunan was on the backfoot from the beginning due to Zhang Boheng's continuing neck issues. Zhang Boheng (Hunan) told the media,

"I was supposed to compete all six events, but my neck injury was wose than I thought, so I had to pull out of pommel horse and parallel bars in today's final. Pommel horse was where Hunan struggled to remain competitive with Jiangsu as the over 5.5 point defecit sealed their loss.
