Frederick Richard (Michigan) won the 2026 Winter Cup all-around title in commanding form over Yul Moldauer (5280) and David Shamah (Stanford). The Michigan senior spent the week prior to competition working as a Team USA Digital Creator at the 2026 Milan-Cortina Olympics, and there was some skepticism as to how he might perform. Richard quickly put those doubts away as he performed both the highest difficulty (31.4) and the highest execution (52.45) of any in the competition. Richard also automatically secured his spot on the Senior National Team through winning the all-around.
Yul Moldauer returned to the national stage after serving a 16-month USADA suspension for wherabouts violation. The 2020 Olympian secured silver medal despite not having a floor routine meeting all the necessary requirement. While his floor is still developing, Moldauer put up a world-class parallel bar routine complete with a stuck dismount to win that title.
Stanford's David Shamah rounded out the all-around podium. In pre-meet interviews, Shamah noted his reputation as a junior athlete but was looking to make a name for himself as a senior and prove to the selection committee that he would be ready to compete when necessary.
Following the competition, USA Gymnastics named the Senior National Team, the Senior Development Team, and the Spring International Assignments.
