What's Happening in Men's Gymnastics (December 20)

A. Sportsperson of the Year


Rhys McClenaghan (Ireland) and Lukas Dauser (Germany) were both named sportsperson of the year in their respective countries.



McClenaghan and Dauser won the world title on pommel horse and parallel bars respectively at the 2023 World Gymnastics Championships in Antwerp, Belgium earlier this year.





B. U.S. Men's National Team Camp


The U.S. Men's senior and junior national teams met in Colorado Springs for the final camp before the Olympic year.

C. CGA East vs. West Results


In the second College Gymnastics Association's East vs. West, the East retained their title making them 2-0 in the series.



Evan Manivong (Floor), Ignacio Yockers (Pommel Horse), Ashton Anaya (Still Rings), Zac Tiderman (Vault), Josh Karnes (Parallel Bars), and Sam Phillips (High Bar) won their respective event titles.

D. Hashimoto Daiki selected for 2024 Paris Olympics


According to this article, World and Olympic all-around champion, Hashimoto Daiki has been selected for Japan's Olympic Team. Two of the remaining four spots will be allocated to the top two all-arounders at the 2024 NHK Cup. The final two spots will also be awarded following the conclusion of the NHK cup and will be awarded to the athletes who will best complement the existing three team members.



E. Former Michigan Athlete and Coach Passed Away

Former University of Michigan athlete and coach, Geoff Corrigan passed away due to unknown causes. A Memorial will be held at the University of Michigan on January 21, 2024. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to support his two children, William and Evelyn.
